JAPAN / SHISO & UME JUICE

Hi guys, Tsumutake is here.

It’s June already. It is getting hotter and hotter here. My family made Shiso and Ume juice. Shiso is a Japanese herb. Ume is a Japanese plum. Both foods are used as healthy foods.

.This is Shiso juice. I made it with red-colored juice extracted from Shiso, rock sugar, and apple-cider vinegar. Yummy! Healthy! Abundant polyphenol inside!

This is Shiso leaves.

Japanese herb

Shiso is often used for Japanese salt plums, Umeboshi in Japanese. It is one of Japanese traditional foods and is made from Japanese plums, salt, and Shiso juice. The reddish color comes from Shiso.

It’s too sour. I do not like it. But it’s an alkaline-ash diet so I sometimes eat it for my health. Umeboshi is well-known as a preserved food.

We also made Ume juice. This is Ume, Japanese plums.

Ume, Japanese plum, is a vegetable in season

Now, the Ume juice is being aged. We put Ume, rock sugar, and apple-cider vinegar into the glass container. I am looking forward to drinking this Ume juice next week.
