Hi there, I have a headache these days due to the fast-spreading UK COVID-19 variant. It detected from five people who came back from UK at the Japan airport. I think it is just the tip of the iceberg because the variant found in this September. It had already spread in Japan. The total number of new cases are increasing larger than that of vaccinated people. The airplane carried cargos suddenly returned to Japan due to the Australian government’s new restriction. It is a bad sign. Anyway, take a great care of yourself.

Today, I would like to introduce a Youtuber. The Youtuber suddenly appeared in January this year. I did not know why his video appeared. I think I watched videos about investment so Google algorithm showed it to me. The Youtuber is Dan Takahashi, a former-hedge fund guy. He just started his Youtube channel. Now, he has 330k subscribers as of today and became one of the charismatic Youtubers in Japan.

Dan Takahashi explains news about the global economy and also hot topics which are related to the stock market every day. He gives his opinion about the news and topics and then gives some advices to us while showing the stock charts. For beginners, he made some investment videos.

Before, I was not interested in investment at all. I liked horse-racing and luckily I was able to earn money. I felt a sense of romance from horses and those who work on the horse racing business. In contrast, I hated investment and did not prefer those who invested stock market. Once I invested to a company that was in danger of going bankrupt, as a result, I blew money. Since then, I had been thinking that the investment was just a money game.

I had saved money every month for a rainy day. But, it was not a clear purpose. However, during COVID-19 pandemic, I intuitively thought that the value of my money would decrease. Japanese and the other countries’ banks started printing huge money and putting them into our world. In addition, I remembered a word of hyperinflation which the president of my college told us before. He said “There is a risk of hyperinflation in Japan due to the huge debt being caused by a low birthrate and an aging population.”

Since around this January, I sometimes watched his videos. First, I was very skeptical about him. He was a bit gloomy in the dark room and explained the news about the stock market while showing the chart on the display of his laptop. But, I was also curious about him because of his career in hedge funds. After a short time, I found a thing in common. The indicators which he explained on the stock chart were very similar to the ones which I used for the algorithm for the multimedia products such as digital TV, and digital camera. Thus, I was able to understand how the indicators works easily. Then I started with a little investment and achieved a superior return on investment this year. Thanks to him I realized that the investment was not a gamble and also I was able to earned money at home amid the pandemic.

Dan Takahashi released a few books but unfortunately they are written in Japanese only. But, he had two channels: Japanese version, and English version.
