JAPAN / This Is NOT A Museum. Hiroshima Incineration Plant

This stylish facility is Hiroshima City Naka Incineration Plant. This is not a museum. Yoshio Taniguchi, a famous architect, designed this facility. MOMA’s new building in New York, USA is one of his woks. He also designed many famous museums in Japan.

Garbages around Hiroshima City are being disposed of by incineration

This is an artrium building called “ECORIUM”. You can see inside of the plant through the glass wall. It is like a museum. You can look around 2nd floor and 6th floor without reservations. There are some exhibits explaining the overview of this facility

2nd floor

ECORIUM = Ecology + Atrium

This is not a museum but an incineration. It’s amazing!

Trees grow up in this facility.

You can see the plant through the glassed wall.

You can go outside so you can see the Hiroshima bay. This builiding is on the landfill facing the sea.

6th Floor

You can watch over the plant from above. Hiroshima City also can be seen from this floor.

If you go straight this street, you can reach Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

You can see the Hiroshima Bay.

You can watch over this plant.

You can see the plant and a glassed wall on the 2nd floor.

You can see employees actually working for this plant.

You can just enjoy watching this architecture and taking photos because the place is clean, beautiful, and photo genitc. But, if you would like to learn the details of disposing of garbages in this plant more, you can join in a tour. The facility staff members take you to the other floors and explain the details. Please note that you need to reserve the tour in advance.
