Last month, I went to Tokyo for my friend’s wedding ceremony amid a surge in COVID-19 cases. I also had my hair short like Kim J*ng un at the beatufy Salon. At that time, I had a chance to take hair photos of hair stylist. So this time, I try to edit their hairs towards the real ones.

The photos were shot by iPhone 11(It is not Pro Ver.) and edited by Instagram apps. I can use professional tools but this blog is for ordinary people to learn picture quality. So I will explain how to edit the hair photos using basic functions.

今回のブログは、サロンで撮影させて頂いたスタイリストさん達の髪の写真を、私が見た感じになるように画像修正してみました。写真を撮影した際に、写真と実物と比べて何が違ったのかを記憶してすぐにざざっと加工しました。撮影はiPhone 11(Proでない）、使用したアプリは誰もが使えるInstagramの基本機能で修正しました。

1週間仕事を中断したため、仕事が立て込んでブログに手を付ける時間が遅くなりました。写真は修正したものに対して説明を付けています。グローバルモデルの映像機器の画像調整の責任者から今度はNo.1ヘア画像調整スタイリストになるため、グローバルな人材で今後ヘア画像スタイリング予定です。

EXAMPLE 1. GRAY HAIR

After I took the photo, I compared the photo with the real staff’s hair quickly and fine-tuned it. The photos on iPhone have a strong contrast. The shadow areas around the tips are darker than the real one. The hairs around his eyes and ears are darker. As the distance from the lighting fixture over the stylist, the brightness level of his hairs is getting darker. So I increased the brighntess level of the hair in the dark area towards the real one using SHADOW function.

iPhone11の写真は、コントラストが強いです(撮影時に特別な設定なし）。現実の映像と違いが多々有。目立つのが、スタイリストさんの髪が顔にかかる部分、頭の形状でやや影になる部分 ->目、耳、顔にかかっているあたりの髪がぐっと暗く映ります。ライトから離れるにつれて、髪は当然暗くなっていくのですが、撮影した写真では毛先あたりはぐっと暗くなっていました。よって、シャドウという暗い部分を明るくする機能で少し明るくしてみます。

Next, the top of the stylist’s head is a bit brighter than the real one. Usually, around upside the head is bright because the distance from the lighting fixtures is close. But, it is a bit too bright so I will decrease the brightness level of that area using HIGHLIGHT function.

頭の上は照明が近いので通常明るいのですが、少し明るすぎるように見えたので、ハイライトと言う機能（明るい部分の明るさを上げ下げできる機能）で明るさをほんの少しだけ抑えます。

Let us compare the original with the edited one. 比べて見ましょう

I improved both the brightest and darkest areas. The photo became a bit soft one.

一番大きな違いの目や耳にかかった髪の影の部分を少し明るく修正し、インスタ映え無しの、ナチュラルな感じに寄せてみました。

EXAMPLE 2 : Black Hair with Blonde Highlights

This photo also have a bit strong contrast. The reflections on the black hairs are like white hairs. So I will reduce the reflections using HIGHLIGHT function.

スタイリストさんの髪の写真も上記の例と同様に、ライトが当たっている部分は明るすぎ、暗い部分はぐっと暗くなっています。コントラストが強いのかややパサパサした髪に見えます。まずはライトに当たっている部分を少し下げます。

I was able to see the stylist’s black hairs. However, the details of the black hairs are darker than the real ones. It is hard to see them in the photo. So I will increase the brightness of the darkest area using SHADOWS function.

実際の髪は暗い部分も見えるのですが、写真では黒くつぶれてあまり見えにくいので少し暗部を上げて見ます。

I am seeing that the color is bit pale because of bit strong lighting fixtures so I increased the color slightly using SATURATION function.

写真の色が現実の色よりやや薄い感じがしたので、ほんの少し色を濃くします。

I improved both the darkest and brightest areas to make it a real one. There are a bit reddish and yellowish areas on the blonde hairs. I think it comes from the multiple light sources: sunlight, and two lighting fitxures.

This time, I explained how to fine-tune the hair so it might there is not a big difference. If you think your hair is a bit dark, please edit your photos using the basic functions!

メッシュの色がもう少し黄色い色だった気もします。やや赤い部分があるのは照明が赤っぽいものが髪に当たって反射したのかもしれません。やや色が少し濃い気もしますが、あの時に修正したのでそうなのかもしれませんが記憶が定かでないので違いがあった場合は、ご容赦ください。今回はナチュラルに特化したファインチューンを紹介してみました。パサパサからしっとりした感じに仕上げて見ました。
