I dropped by a lovely chocolate factory&cafe accidentally and took a few photos. Due to the strong sun, the shadow on the desk is a bit dark. The photo has a bit strong contrast. I am feeling that it is darker than the real. So I tried to make the photo a soft one. Maybe girls/women would like such a photo.
WHAT IS A SOFT IMAGE?
The soft image has a low contrast. In the photo above, the shadow is dark and the window is bright. There is a difference of the brightness level. If the difference is big, the photo has a high contrast. In opposite, if the difference is not big, the photo has a low contrast. It is a soft image.
So I will increase the brightness level of the shadow using SHADOW function to reduce the difference of the brightness level between the shadow and the window.
SHADOW function can either increase or decrease the brightness level of dark area.
I moved a slider towards positive direction to increase the brightness level of the shadow.
The difference of brightness level between the shadow and the window is reduced ! It became a soft image! DONE!

The basics of how you edit your photo is as follows. It’s very simple.
1. If you increase brightness, you need to increase color
2. If you decrease brightness, you need to decrease color
The photo became brighter so I will increase color using SATURATION function.
SATURATION function can either increase or decrease color.

It is OK. The photo became soft and the color is also vivid.
I am still seeing the photo is dark. So I would like to fine-tune the photo. I will slightly increase the brightness level using BRIGHTNESS function.

Let us compare the original with the edited one.
Can you see the difference? The original photo has dark shadow. I tried to remove the shadow and then fine-tuned the brightness and color level. The photo has a low contrast and became a soft image
