YOU CAN ADD HIGH CONTRAST OR LOW CONTRAST TO YOUR PHOTO

1. MAKE YOUR PHOTO HIGH CONTRAST

If you increase CONTRAST, brightness data of dark area becomes darker and brightness data of bright area becomes brighter. As a result, your photo will have contrast.

The photo has strong contrast. It has a dramatic effect.

2. MAKE YOUR PHOTO LOW CONTRAST (SOFT)

If you decrease CONTRAST, brightness data of dark area becomes brighter and brightness data of bright area becomes darker. As a result, your photo will have a soft image.

I set CONTRAST minus 100.
The photo becomes soft.

You can see the effect of CONTRAST function as seen in the photos below.

The photo has strong contrast. Usually, shadows under the leaves become dark

The photo has strong contrast. It has a powerful image.

One the left is original photo while on the left is the one I increased CONTRAST. It added a special effect onto the silver statue.

I decreased CONTRAST up to minus 100.
